Nessus is one of the most popular vulnerability scanning tool. which scans a computer and raises an alert when it discovers new vulnerabilities that malicious hackers could use to gain access to any computer you have connected to a network. It scans and checks 1200 times on a given computer. Nessus does not actively prevent attacks, it is only a tool that checks your computer to find vulnerabilities that hackers could exploit.

How to install Nessus on Kali Linux:-

Download the Nessus package for Debian Nessus Download page The following link direct to the official Nessus download page confirms that Nessus's latest release of Nessus for Debian/kali Linux Nessus-10.3.0-debian9_amd64.deb.Then open the terminal and navigate to the download folder,

                        $ sudo dpkg -i Nessus-10.3.0-debian9_amd64.deb

Now Nessus was successfully installed on your kali Linux, then we need to start nessus service for that type 

                        $ sudo /bin/systemctl start nessusd.service 

Nessus service has been started successfully, then go to any browser type in URL like https://localhost:8834/ 

It will redirect to the Nessus page and select the Nessus product to use. Now register Nessus by entering the activation code received by email. Create a Nessus administrator account on the next page Nessus will start the preparation of the files needed to scan your assets.

This could take some time as Nessus download plugins and prepare the files needed to scan your assets.then It will redirect to login page 

Enter your user name and password then click sign in now successfully log in to new Nessus account
